Our
department organized State Level One Day Seminar on Economic
Policies of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on 28th September 2012,
sponsored by the Centre for Nehru Studies, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. Dr.R.Balasubramaniyam from D.G.Vaishnav
College, Chennai was the resource person and Dr.S. Manickam, Director, Centre for Nehru Studies, M.S. University gave valedictory address.
Our
department as well as the Department of Youth Welfare of our college jointly
organized Nehru Studies Cultural Competitions in our college on 27th
September 2012 sponsored by the Centre for Nehru Studies, Manonmaniam
Sundaranar University.
The
first Public Viva-Voce examination in our PG & Research Department of
Economics was held on 4th December 2012, for the candidate R. Sofia Leenas Ramalingam whose Ph.D
thesis entitled “An Economic Study of
the Comparative Performance of Women Teachers in Tirunelveli District”
under the guidance of Dr.P.Chinnathambi.
The
second Public Viva-Voce examination in our PG & Research Department of
Economics was held on 10th December 2012, for the candidate V.P.D. Josephin whose Ph.D thesis entitled “An Economic Study of Empowerment of Women
Through 3 Tamil Nadu Girls Battalion, NCC in Tirunelveli” under the
guidance of Dr.P.Chinnathambi.
The
Third Public Viva-Voce examination in our PG & Research Department of
Economics was held on 10th April 2013, for the candidate S.Paramasivan whose Ph.D thesis
entitled “Conversion of Agricultural
Lands in Tirunelveli District: An Economic Analysis” under the guidance of Dr.P.Chinnathambi.
Dr.P.Chinnathambi
has been awarded a SILGA Special award for his Excellency in Educational Development works for 2012-2013.
One
day special lecture on Budget – 2013 was held on 12th April 2013.
